Top 9 Albums of 2009
Why do I make lists? Besides the fact that I enjoy them, they also seem to put things in perspective. One of my favorite things to do is organize and lists are just another way to organize the stuff that floats around in my head.
Normally, with “top 10″ lists, I want to drop it before the year is up. However, this list was a hard one. I went back and listened to all the notable albums of 2009. So here you go. Although I enjoy each album on my top 10 9 list very much, I really have nothing to say about them (some songs on the Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack made me “cry”). There are hundreds of reviews of these albums that can articulate their awesomeness better than yours truly. So google these artists and/or albums if you’d like to know more.
I hope the first 10 days of this new decade have been great to you and I’m curious to find out the albums that shook your bone marrow last year.

Dirty Projectors – Bitte Orca
Matt & Kim – Grand
Fever Ray – Fever Ray
Fuck Buttons – Tarot Sport (This is my favorite album of 2009.)
Health – Get Color
Major Lazer – Guns Don’t Kill People– Lazers Do
Mos Def – The Ecstatic
múm (pronounced moom) – Sing Along to Songs You Don’t Know
Where The Wild Things Are (Soundtrack) Original Songs By Karen O and The Kids

Side note: Two albums have made every list that I’ve come across this year and, before I get hate mail, I would like to explain. I like Animal Collective’s last album, Strawberry Jam, a lot better than their new album, Merriweather Post Pavilion (even though I can stare at the cover for hours). And Grizzly Bear bores me to tears. So neither of their albums made my top 10. Better luck next year.
